Program Information / Curriculum
The Osteopathic Internship is designed to prepare the graduate physician for further training at UPMC Shadyside or other institutions following successful completion. The Internship year will be comprised of the following rotations:
- 3 months Internal Medicine
- 1 month Family Practice - inpatient or outpatient
- 1 month Emergency Department
- 1 month ICU

Each Intern's schedule will be outlined with the Program Director of the Osteopathic Internship along with any other Program Directors at UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside with whom the intern has an ongoing interest. This will enable the intern to enter other UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside programs at the R2 level while satisfying AOA requirements
While the Osteopathic Internship is new, a solid academic program is already in place at UPMC Shadyside. Educational experiences that are integral to the didactic experience are as follows:
