Transitional Year Curriculum

Residents’ clinical base year (CBY) curriculum depends upon the future specialty choice (i.e. Radiology, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, etc.)

Residents matching to TY tracks with advanced programs in the UPMC system (Anesthesiology, Radiology) will mirror the recommended curriculum and electives for each specialty.

General Transitional Year & TY/Radiology Track Curriculum

 

1 Block Ambulatory (VA Urgent Care Center)

 

1 Block Presbyterian Emergency Department

 

1 Block ICU

 

4-5 Blocks of Inpatient Medicine

4 Blocks Inpatient Medicine
1/2 Block Night float

 

~ 4-5 Elective Blocks*

 

  * - If needed to meet the requirements of a TY residency, one elective may be in a Fundamental clinical skills rotation (e.g. Selectives

1 block Cardiac Pavilion
