Why did you select the UPMC ME TY program?

Having worked among the residents and attendings as a medical student, I came in knowing that I would receive an excellent education in medicine among a great group of people. I look forward to rotating through many interesting electives, and I hope to maintain my relationships with my radiation oncology mentors here as well.

Why did you decide to come to Pittsburgh?

The first time I visited Pittsburgh was on my medical school interview day, and I was blown away both by how beautiful the city was and how friendly the people were! I have had such an amazing four years living and working in this city, and I am so happy I have another year left to explore.

Why did you select the UPMC ME TY program?

I was attracted to the diversity of training, and the fact that they have a curriculum designed for UPMC Ophthalmology residents that exposes you to pediatric medicine, adult medicine, surgery, and a variety of electives. I felt confident selecting the UPMC ME TY program that I would finish my intern year broadly trained, comfortable with the UPMC system, and prepared to begin my advanced program.

Why did you decide to come to Pittsburgh?

Strength of the training programs. UPMC has a reputation for taking care of a lot of patients and being a great organization. The city of Pittsburgh is undergoing dynamic changes with tech and medicine being major players in the new economy. It is affordable, has a great family atmosphere, and is a diverse city with distinct neighborhoods.

Why did you select the UPMC ME TY program?

I was interested in a Transitional Year because it offers the flexibility to train in both inpatient medicine and a variety of electives. When I matched at UPMC for Ophthalmology, I knew that the UPMC ME TY program would afford me a unique opportunity to get excellent medical training while also being able to get to know my future colleagues and the unique patient population in Pittsburgh.

Why did you decide to come to Pittsburgh?

When I first visited Pittsburgh I quickly discovered that it’s a city filled with rich culture, great food, and friendly people. Work-life balance is important to me, and I know Pittsburgh will not only be a wonderful place to train, but also an enjoyable place to live.

During my time at Pitt Med, I had the good fortune of having great clinical and research mentors. I chose the TY program here because I knew I would receive great training in an environment I was already comfortable in as well as get to finish some of the research projects I started as a medical student.

I was very impressed with Pittsburgh when I interviewed at Pitt for medical school and ended up attending Pitt Med because of all the clinical and research opportunities available to its students.

Why did you select the UPMC ME TY program?

UPMC is well-known for having some of the most elite training in just about every specialty. The TY program allows me to have exposure in many of these fields, which will allow me to be well-prepared as I transition into Radiology in the coming years.

Why did you decide to come to Pittsburgh?

I grew up just east of Pittsburgh and I have always loved the history and culture of this city. Between the sports teams, the food, and the beautiful scenery, Pittsburgh has everything I could want in a city.

The faculty are accessible and enthusiastic. UPMC hospitals provide community as well as tertiary care, and offers a supportive teaching environment for young doctors like myself. That’s why I chose to pursue my Transitional Year at UPMC.

Why did you decide to come to Pittsburgh?

Pittsburgh has been my home for the past 6 years through my time in the MD-PhD program. It is a beautiful city, with many opportunities for young people.

I wanted to stay in the city and have access to the nationally ranked hospital system that is committed to education. I heard great things from the TY interns and had no doubt the training in intern year would further my development as a physician.

Why did you decide to come to Pittsburgh?

I love the city. Ever since my medical school interview, I was so taken by the beautiful parks, the delicious food, abundant museums, and historical architecture. There is always something to explore, and therefore I am grateful to have another year as a Pittsburgher.

The TY program at UPMC allowed me to participate in high quality healthcare and education while at the same time allowing me to take electives that interested me most.

Why did you decide to come to Pittsburgh?

I am starting my residency in Ophthalmology next year, and I wanted the extra year to get to know my coworkers, the city and the atmosphere. On my visits to Pittsburgh I was always blown away by the quality of restaurants and entertainment that this wonderful city had to offer.
